Wanderlust
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
I thought about you only yesterday
The time that we shared seems so far away
I still hear you asking me to stay
But home is where the heart is
I thought we were one but I was one of three
Sailing on a river in Egypt to the sea
So I jumped ship and now I’m feelin’ free
So another one bites the dust
Another ship turns to rust
Another love boom to bust
I’ll find a love that feels like home
A love that I can call home
I still get your phone calls now and then
All ‘How’s life…’ & ‘Remember when..’
I hear your stories about other men
And how we’re getting older
Life can change in a heart beat
We never know who we’re going to meet
Love cats always land on their feet
Another one bites the dust
Another ship turns to rust
Another love boom to bust
I’ll find a love that feels like home
A love that I can call home
I’ll find a love that I can call home
A love that feels like home
And now with wanderlust keeping me enthralled
I'm wondering about the next port of call
Maybe Spain, maybe Portugal
I'll find a love that feels like home

"All I've found is written in collaboration with George Greenough, one of surfings greatest pioneers & innovators. It was inspired by his footage from the late 60's and lyrically it is adapted from one of my favourite quotes of his. 'If you don't go, you will never know.'" Shannon Sol Carroll

All I’ve found
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
I’m on the road I’m on the move
Nothing to gain, nothing to lose
If I don’t go now I’ll never know
Wind in my hair ease my mind
Leave my troubles way behind
If I don’t go now I’ll never know
All I’ve found
I’ve found through pushing on
Rise again and move beyond
And this journey never ends.
Spinning wheels, spinning tunes
Bring me life. Bring me truth
If I don’t go now I’ll never know
Nothing is gonna hold me back
Freedom calls me off the beaten track
If I don’t go now I’ll never know
All I’ve found
I’ve found through pushing on
Rise again and move beyond
For this journey never ends.
We’re onward bound
Yeah we’re bound to evolve
As these wheels do revolve
Will you ride with me my friend
Ride on. Ride on.
Oh this journey never ends
Will you ride with me my friend
Who knows what’s around the next bend?

Rise like the Sun
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
Freedom my love. Love my freedom.
I do love our kisses but you know I don’t need them.
I've fallen deep even though it’s just begun.
I set my love free and I rise like the sun.
If I’m dreaming this love then just tell me I’m dreaming.
But something tells me you feel what I’m feeling.
I follow my heart woman I’ve made up my mind but Que Se ra se ra.
I let you go, see you fly.
Rise like the sun (repeat)
Rise Woman
Rise Woman
I see you being the best woman you can be.
Wings feel the wind lifting you to be free.
You know that I love you. My love knows no doubt. Well…
Fly now woman yeah I’m all about it.
Freedom my love. Love my freedom.
Follow your heart woman make up your mind but Que se ra se ra.
Chorus
Freedom and love, two wings of the same bird.
Fly beyond.
The cage of fear lies bent and broken
Fly beyond. Fly beyond . Fly beyond
You want space well welcome to the universe.
Moment to moment there’s no time to rehearse.
Follow your heart woman make up your mind but Que se ra, se ra.

Free Again
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
Every day that’s ticking over, I’m another day older,
Feel the weight I feel the burden bearing down on my shoulders,
I’m living the life you told me. I’m living the dream you sold me.
So why does my soul just want to scream? Oh set me free yeah.
Yeah I wonder if I’ve lost my mind.
I wonder if I’ve wasted my time,
Then I re awake, realise what it takes,
To be free again
Now I burn all these illusions. Break free from these chains.
I’m gonna climb atop the carriage and take hold of the reins.
Well I take a leap of faith. Yeah I take a leap of trust.
‘Cause it’s not a matter of if, just when. For I know I must, I must be free.
Yeah I wonder if I’ve lost my mind.
I wonder if I’ve wasted my time,
Then I re awake, realise what it takes,
To feel free again (repeat)
I pick myself up and dust myself off.
I’ve ridden the peaks and hit the bottom of troughs.
Rough and tumble, some days I stumble.
Get back on my feet now I’m ready to rumble.
Always respectful yeah always humble.
Just chipping away till my obstacles crumble.
I’m living my life. I’m living my dreams,
as the ocean is home to all running streams.
I’m free again. Oh free again. Free again. Finally free again
Free Again. Quiet my mind.
Free Again. Follow the signs.
Free Again. Yeah choose my line.
Free again. Yeah free again.

"Sonic shorelines ripple with cosmic forces out into the corners of your mind...unseen spiritual waves transform the usual music experience into a dream of Otherworldly delights...This is what you experience when you listen to Band Of Frequencies and their new single Free Again. Conjuring a sonic realm that celebrates the past, present and future; this is a band that crosses genres and expectations all at once, floating into blues territory with roots, rock, reggae and the psychedelic colouring sound in varying textures. Shannon “Sol” Carroll leads the band with guitar and vocals; OJ Newcomb is a phenomenal bass player who brings a deep resonating groove to the band, whilst Mark Henman‟s beats play with your mind in an extra sensory experience that has the trio delivering a dose of chemistry akin to a Woodstock encounter. Title track „Free Again‟ shatters the preconceived notions of life, encouraging you to follow your passion and the road less travelled; it‟s a song that evokes Jimmy Hendrix in an original and meaningful way. Highly anticipated album „Rise Like The Sun‟ is due for release late 2011 – early 2012, with a tour for Free Again happening right now. „Freedom‟ was created by Richie Havens who graced the stage of Woodstock in those few days of music and love; in this version BOF have captured the original ethos in a song tinged with 60‟s beauty and free flowing psychedelic revelry, that demands you close your eyes and go where the music takes you." - DANIELLE LLOYD (Tsunami Magazine 19.05.11)

Shake it up
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
You’re the kind of woman that makes me look oh.
The kind of woman I could write a book on.
Not the kind of woman I can overlook.
There’s no need for bait, no need for hooks, no.
I feel I wanna let you know.
I like your style. I like your flow.
The way you’re moving to and fro.
I’m seein’ beautiful shapes in your shadow.
And I like it shakin’.
If I’m not mistaken,
You like it shakin’ too.
So lets shake it up, lets shake it up. (repeat)
I take a ticket, all aboard.
I don’t wanna pull the rip cord.
Well I’m lovin’ this free fall
Will you be there when I’m 64
Oh yo got me thinking all this crazy shit.
We’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.
Right now I love the way you’re shaking it.
You’re shaking it. Yes ah oh.
I like it shakin’.
If I’m not mistaken,
You like it shakin’ too.
So lets shake it up, lets shake it up.
Ho! I wanna shake it up
Lets shake it up
C’mon shake it up.
Shake it. Shake it. Shake it. Shake it. Shakin. (repeat)
Shake it up
I wanna Shake it up.
Shake it up. (repeat)

Down to Earth
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
Coconut thuds as it hits the ground.
Buzzing kids all gathered around.
Full basket balances on Mama’s head.
Good food, fresh milk, no need for bread.
Papa climbs another palm with a blade, keen skills and a strap of yarn.
Making his way toward the sky then thud, thud, thud as the coconuts fly…
Down to Earth.
Living in a paradise.
Down to earth.
We count these blessings twice (repeat)
Tide rolls in pushing swell .
To wrap and bend as it does so well.
Inside section, utter perfection.
Pull in tight for a closer inspection.
Daylight coming closer
Let me out we’re gonna make the most of
These sunny days, perfect waves
We fly so high yet the vibe it stays…
Down to Earth…
Simple life. Simple Love.
Simple days I’m dreaming of.
I choose this. Let go of that.
Listen to the rhythm that’s where it’s at.
Sun it rises. Moon it wanes.
All we gotta do is step up and maintain.
Bringing it up. Bringing it in.
Feel suns rays falling on my skin and…
Down to Earth…

Steps
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
A sense of space a sense of freedom
A time and place a way of being
Here with you. Only here with you
A love supreme my whole world spins
One night ends one day begins right here with you
Only here with you
A step I take
A step I give to you
A step I awake
A step I live this truth
A sense of peace a sense of knowing
Trust in love I feel it growing
Know the truth. Now I know the truth
Glowing ember dancing flame
draws us in it calls our name to
live the truth. Only live the truth
Chorus
All those days spent wondering how it all will work out
Sometimes searching far and wide only to be so close
I face the dawn’s golden rays. Great Eastern Sun
Shadows falling far behind me. The search is over
A sense of ease, a sense of flowing
Trust the breeze will keep on blowing
Fill these sails. Not afraid to fail
A step I take
A step I give to you
A step I awake
A step I live this truth (repeat)
With you

Beyond the Sky
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
No words describe the feelings I’ve got today,
What can I say? They’re not going away.
I tried to turn and walk the other way.
But with me they stay. Come what may.
Surrounded by the vapours within cloud nine.
Green ginger wine, the pleasures all mine.
We fall from the sky for a second just to check the time.
11:59. Let the bells chime.
I hope you know all the pleasure you bring.
Through the visions that you see, and the images you sing.
The world through your eyes is a beautiful thing.
All the colours on the breeze on a butterfly wing.
A butterfly wing you sing.
We’re naked when we’re born.
We don’t take nothin’ when we die.
We will make it through the storms.
We will soar beyond the sky, home. Home.
Welcome to the next seven laps of the sun.
Cycles begun. Return to the one.
Been thinking about the beautiful things you’ve done.
Motherly love, now the child has become.
The stories that you tell go beyond your years.
The canvas hears, mixed paint with tears.
Hanging right there on the wall beyond your fears.
I hope you know all the pleasure you bring.
In the visions that you see and the images you sing.
The world through your eyes is a beautiful thing.
The colours on a breeze in a butterfly wing.
In a butterfly wing you sing.
We’re naked when we’re born.
We don’t take nothin’ when we die.
We will make it through the storms
We will soar beyond the skies, home. Home.

How it is
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
All we gotta do is speak our truth, show respect and stand in the other ones shoes. Give the same as you’d have given to you.
Swingin’ from the best case scenario.
To the worst case scenario.
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
Well we don’t wanna hurt no one
Just wanna share this crazy fun
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
But you now that I love your way
We’re just taking it day to day.
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
Well we know that our lovin’s fine.
Yeah we radiate and shine.
Tell me how it is. Just tell me how it is.
All I want to do is share my days with you
That’s how it is, woman. That’s how it is.
All I want to do is share my moments with you
And that’s how it is yeah yo. It’s how it is yeah yeah. That’s how it is.
No we don’t want to feel no pressure
But we want to share these pleasures
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
Because this loving feels deluxe so…
Why the hesitation?
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
Am I gonna have to walk away.
Live and love another day.
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
Am I gonna have to let you go.
Woman say it is not so.
Tell me how it is. Tell me how it is.
(Chorus)
All we gotta do is speak our truth, show respect and stand in the other ones shoes. Give the same as you’d have given to you. Oooh oh…. (repeat)

Shades of Grey
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
No more holding on
No the moment is gone
Nothing more to say
Today’s a brand new day
Rolling through the rain
Rolling through the fire
Rolling through the pain
Rolling through desire
When I walk away I feel you coming
When I turn your way I feel you running
I’m gonna stand my ground and send this love your way
I see colours in the shades of grey
Woman shades of grey
I need some black or white
Woman dusk and dawn
I need some day or night
Rolling through the sunrise
Rolling through the sunset
Rolling to remember
Rolling to forget
When I walk away I feel you coming
When I turn your way I feel you running
I’m gonna stand my ground and send this love your way
I see colours in the shades of grey
I see colours in the shades of grey
Throw me a line
Give me a sign. Woman. Woman.

Golden

- QMA 2012 (Qld Music Awards) Winners for the Blues / Roots Category.
Band of Frequencies QMA winning song ‘Golden’ offers a unique glimpse into the quintessential Sunny Coast lifestyle. Written in the ocean on a crisp winters afternoon during the annual sugarcane burn off, the lyrics glowingly reflect on maintaining an attitude of gratitude.
‘These days are Golden, these amazing moments just keep unfolding’.
Shannon’s husky vocals paint a picture seen only from the sea as the sun sets through the smoky haze and troubles melt away into the ether. The chorus breezes in like sunshine reassuring us that this Golden moment here and now is all we need to focus on. Everything else can wait…
Lifting the vibe, the bridge kicks in offering a window into the bands recording sessions that went down straight to tape at Blackbox studios. The guitar solo was recorded live in the original session and left only the vocals and swirling organ to be placed masterfully in the mix by Jeff Lovejoy in the overdub stages of the recording.

Golden
Lyrics by Shannon Sol Carroll
A piece of sugarcane ash sticks to my skin
As another piece falls into the ocean
Black ribbons fall twisting from a sweet golden cloud
As the sun now be setting through it well I find myself thinking aloud
These days are golden. These amazing moments just keep unfolding.
Well these days are golden, golden, golden. Let go of all I’m holding onto.
Yeah well I caught my reflection in a rock pool at low tide.
Just like the fish in there, well, nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.
I lay in the stillness. I just drift and glide.
I’m feeling good things are coming and I just got to wait
And swim away with the rising tide.
These days are golden, golden, golden.
I let go of all I’m holding onto.
Yeah these days are golden, golden, golden.
These amazing moments just keep unfolding. Let them flow.
Yessah well moment to moment now I flow on to the next.
Well life is so simple please don’t make it complex
I fill my half full glass with a new context
Now it’s overflowing now with a meniscus convex.
Poetic licensees yes we rhyme with ease,
Opening doors of perception ‘cause you know we got the keys universal
In the moment no rehearsal these thoughts on the airwaves like seed dispersal.
Fly, fly on. Fly on. Fly, fly on. Fly on.
These days are golden, golden, golden.
I just let go of all I’m holding onto. Yeah hey.
Well these days are golden, golden, golden.
These amazing moments just keep unfolding.

Minds In The Water

This is the title track to the film of the same name by Saltwater Collective. (www.mindsinthewater.com) It was written after a paddle-out memorial ceremony for the thousands of Dolphins and Whales that are slaughtered every year in Taiji Bay, Japan. Sol and OJ were part of the ceremony with 20 other active global citizens with the intention of shining a light on the blood red waters of these bays. These events are also featured in the Oscar winning documentary called The Cove by the Oceanic Preservation Society. (www.opssociety.org)

lyrics
Minds in the water
A circle of hearts and minds in the water,
Brothers and sisters, sons and daughters,
Come together to honour the oceans.
We give our respects and offer these flowers,
Bring on the dawn from the darkest hours,
Shine on the light on the colours of these waters.
Now is the time to know the minds in the water,
Now is the time to hear the songs of the sea.
Yes I believe that all life is equal,
All that exists is not just for people,
So we stand and defend as Our Planets Keepers,
We make our future as we make our choices
We have our two hands, two feet and our voices,
Action speaks louder than word and thought,
Future generations need our support.
Well the time has come. The time has come.
The time has come. The time has come.
Rise up. The time has come.
The time has come. The time has come.
Yeah you and me.
Now is the time.
Come together.
Come together.
